I am an avid reader. I enjoy curling up on the sofa and diving into a story that can keep my attention for hours before I come up for a breath and remember that the characters aren’t real and that’s not my life. I also didn’t realize that I’m a fast reader until my husband watched me crush a 500 page book after work the other day, but it was so good and I couldn’t put it down!
I made a conscious goal to read 20 books in 2019 and I surpassed that by 17 for a total of 37 books! I’ve been tracking my books on Goodreads for a few years, but diligently over the last year. You can also follow me as I wrap up 2019 and start a new reading challenge for 2020! Find my Goodreads page HERE.
Based on the list below it’s easy to see that I’m a crime, murder mystery, thriller kinda gal, but I also LOVE Elin Hilderbrand and can’t wait to read more of her books in 2020.
Please note when looking at my list that I read to escape reality. I read silly, light hearted, thriller, fiction and sometimes non-fiction books. You won’t catch me reading 1,000 page intellectual novels, it’s just not something I’m into. I read those in high school and college, now I read for me and if I can’t get into a particular book I don’t finish reading it. This is also why I love our public library’s digital borrowing system so I don’t feel guilty if I don’t like something! Get yourself the Kindle Cloud Reader app and a library card if you don’t already have one!
Here are my favorites from 2019:
Karin Slaughter, Rachel Caine and Elin Hilderbrand are three of my favorite authors. I also love Liane Moriarty and have “Nine Perfect Strangers” on my to-read list for 2020.
Goodreads helps me keep track of what I’ve read, how I liked it, and the books I want to read. Let me know if you have recommendations that I should add to my “want to read” list! I’m always on the hunt for new books!
