We rang in the New Year in Deep Creek, MD with a group of our closest friends. We went on a hike and it lit a fire in Chris and I to spend more time outdoors. January has been the month of hiking and exploring the trails near our house and I am loving it!
We came back from Deep Creek and immediately went on two more hikes in Silver Spring. Cannoli is loving this new hobby of ours and even got a chance to run around off leash on a few trips!
I started a new workout program called Barre Blend and had to stop the first week after hurting my knees. I’ve always had bad knees and Barre was the perfect storm for upsetting my weak knees. It took most of January to get back to normal and I’ve started a yoga retreat program on Beachbody that is helping me to stretch and strengthen.
My Mama had a milestone birthday! We are planning a trip together for the Spring to celebrate and I can’t wait!
The Ravens played a good season and we were all looking forward to watching them in the Superbowl, but unfortunately it wasn’t their year.
We spent time a lot of time with family and friends this month. The event season kicks off for me in February, but doesn’t get really busy until September so we are focusing on catching up with the ones we love during this slower season of the year.
My bff Katie and I attended our FOURTH Women’s March together this month. It’s disheartening that we are still marching, but we will continue to stand up and voice our beliefs every year if we have to.
Chris and I have been really into games lately so it wasn’t surprising when we had two game nights scheduled back to back one weekend. My cousin is deep in the gaming world and has his own Instagram account! He’s introduced us to really cool and unique games- we played Fire Tower on this particular night and LOVED it.
Artechouse is an art exhibit that is permanent in DC, but changes artists and focuses every couple of months. We took the afternoon and went to see Future Sketches. While it was really interesting, I definitely expected a larger exhibit than what we were presented with.
We spent this month trying to get out in Silver Spring a bit more too share what we were up to on my joint Instagram account with my friend Sara. When we moved to Silver Spring almost a year ago, I knew NOTHING about the city and we are in love with the town we decided to settle in. Sara and I are both proud Silver Spring residents and want to share all the wonderful things about it so we made an IG account and have been doing just that. Give us a follow if you’re interested!
We celebrated Katie’s birthday with dinner at Mediterranean/Greek restaurant in Baltimore. We chowed down family style and enjoyed delicious wine with our favorite people to celebrate another birthday!
At the end of the month we took a weekend trip to Delaware to spend time with my parents that wasn’t overshadowed by the craziness of the holidays. Typically this is the weekend that I do the Polar Bear Plunge and we go home to see them, but I’m took this year off from fundraising and it was so nice to spend that uninterrupted time with them instead. We went to my childhood zoo so I could visit for the first time in years!
We spent the last few days of January soaking up quiet nights at home or going out and doing the things we love knowing that the event season isn’t far away and we should cherish this time while we have it! We saw Gretel & Hansel this weekend and didn’t hate it, but we didn’t love it either.
Happy February, friends! One month closer to Spring and warmer weather!
