Bye February! I don’t like to wish time away, but January and February are so stinkin’ cold and March is one step closer to Spring. Thank goodness!
This month was busy with time outside exploring Silver Spring, multiple trips to Baltimore to see our people and a sick week with myself and Cannoli being out of commission. Here’s the recap!
We kicked off the month with a visit to Baltimore to see some of our friends and try a new (to us) brewery in Hampden. Our night turned into an 8 hour hang and I found myself at a dance club at 1am in a knit sweater. I literally was the oldest person there, but I was living my best life and it’s been a while since we had a night like that so I have no regrets.
The weather was mild this month so we hiked in our neighborhood/town a lot! Cannoli went on a couple and we explored new trails in Silver Spring as well. It feels so good to make moving our bodies a priority!
Our Goddaughter turned 2! It’s so crazy to see the kids in our lives growing up and to see time LITERALLY passing before our eyes. She had a Lion King birthday party and it was so much fun to watch her run around and play with her friends!
We got new neighbors this month who are our age. Chris and I think it’s important to build a community of friends in our new city and also remember how scary it was to move to a new place and know NO ONE. So I whipped up a batch of homemade chocolate cookies, he grabbed a bottle of wine and we marched ourselves over to say hi! They were so sweet, we had similar interests and they surprised us this past weekend with stopping by to bring our plate back filled with homemade cookies. Such a nice surprise!
I’ve been feeling like I want to create and make something again so I started making clay earrings. It’s been fun to learn new techniques and make earrings that I would otherwise buy anyway!
I spent Valentine’s Day working an event that used to be a zoo staple, but hasn’t happened in a couple years. We brought back Woo at the Zoo and did it 80’s prom style. It was a really fun event and was a nice one to ease us back into event season with!
Chris and I celebrated Valentine’s Day the next night with a game of duckpin bowling (I won!) and dinner at Unconventional Diner. The food was out of this world good and we will definitely be back!
Our Godson turned FOUR this month. February is full of birthdays (also my FIL!) so we visited him at home and spent a Sunday afternoon playing with his toys and hanging out. It was really nice to spend the time to talk to him and learn about all of his favorite things. Again, it’s so crazy to see the little people in our lives growing up and into real people with thoughts and feelings and opinions!
Cannoli had a dental visit scheduled on President’s Day and we knew he needed to have a few teeth pulled (Kuwaiti life was not kind to him), but we were shocked when the vet called and said they had pulled out NINETEEN teeth. Our poor baby had been in pain for a while, but was hiding it from us well. Our hearts broke at the thought and we couldn’t wait to pick him up and bring him home to us. I worked from home the Tuesday after his procedure to make sure he got his meds and keep an eye on him, but at some point during the day I started feeling really crummy. I ended up spending the entire week at home sick with some virus that turned into a sinus infection. I hated it, but Cannoli and Mar have never been happier to have Mama with them for five days straight!
Our friend Pete is a metal sculptor (he made the gorgeous heart for our wedding ceremony) and has exhibited at the American Craft Council for the past four or five years. We love supporting him so we made a trip to Baltimore to check out his booth! After saying hi to Petey, we wandered around Fells Point popping in our favorite spots and checking out new ones that have opened since we left Charm City. It was a great day date and just what I needed after being out for the count for the week prior!
We got a new roof! We aren’t super happy that we had to get a new roof, but after finding a leak in the kitchen ceiling and finding out that there were leaks EVERYWHERE I’m so happy it’s fixed!
February was a great month, but I’m hoping March brings us healthy, happy moments with family and friends!
