My travel style is donuts and art. Whenever I book a trip those are the first things I research- where can I get delicious donuts and where can I see public art?
When we started talking about visiting Sarasota for an extended weekend to see a Spring Training game I did what I do best and took to Instagram to conduct very important street art research. Honestly, I didn’t come up with much- just a few murals here and there, but Sarasota exceeded my expectations when we arrived!
Murals are spread throughout Sarasota including colorful wings and flamingo police officers and I found a couple on the Blvd of Arts. There are others based on my Instagram research, but sadly I did not find them on this trip.
At first, I didn’t realize that the brightly colored bikes on various streets were done by a single artist, I thought they were a community art movement, but I stand corrected! It was a fun game wandering through the city looking for more of the colorful bikes. We found them covered in hearts, daisies and my personal favorite was an Orioles themed bike outside of Ed Smith Stadium! To learn more go HERE.
Beyond the street art and sculptures there are also a handful of art galleries in Sarasota to explore and experience!
