#LiftedHerLook is a challenge that my blog friend, Nadine created. She made this challenge to push herself to use the items in her closet as opposed to go out and buy new pieces and to create new outfits that she wouldn’t normally wear. I LOVED the challenge and decided to give it a go myself!
I am guilty of wearing the same combinations of outfits every month. I only wear one primary color piece in every outfit and the rest of the ensemble is neutrals. I don’t layer a ton and definitely have a style that I gravitate towards and this challenge has totally made me look at my closet differently!
I played it SO safe this week, but also didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. I had just received this purple sweater for Christmas and would have normally paired it with blue denim and boots and called it a day. There are navy blue colors woven throughout the sweater, but also black! So I found this outfit to lift:
And here is my outfit:
Not a huge risk wearing black denim with a purple sweater, but it was something that I wouldn’t have normally chosen while standing in the doorway to my closet!
This week wasn’t an exact lift from another person’s outfit. Instead I was inspired by the slouchy sweater combo with a graphic tee. Did I mention that I always wear a neutral color with a primary color? In the past, this purple sweater would only get worn with a white, gray or black tee. So original, I know. Instead I found this outfit to lift:
And created this outfit:
I’m wearing a workout tank and a fuzzy sweater and have never felt this cute in either of these pieces alone!
When doing this challenge, I simply go into the Like it to now it app and type an article of clothing that I already own into the search bar. For this week I typed in statement booties. I have a pair of gray and black Cubanas that don’t get nearly enough wear each season because they are such statement pieces and I never know how to wear them!
This is the outfit I decided to lift:
And this is my outfit:
I loved the simple black and white outfit that was still very classy and put together paired with the statement boots. I added a statement jacket over it and honestly, the jacket stole the show!
The Women’s March came to Baltimore on this particular weekend and it was the coldest march I’ve done in the last three years! I knew I had to bundle up and wanted to wear this red/brown leather jacket that my friend Alex had lettered on the back of, but I had only worn it once and really needed help figuring out what else to wear with it!
I lifted this look:
And wore this:
I LOVED this outfit, was super comfy under my sleeping bag jacket and looked cute enough to hand out at a local brewery afterwards!
Lessons I learned:
- I need to start wearing more color!
- The things you think will be the most talked about on social media aren’t! My statement boots were quickly overshadowed by my statement coat and I feel so bad because it was a last season Marshall’s find and I can’t find a link to it anywhere!
- I feel so much excitement picking out my outfit to lift and putting the pieces together each week! I am looking at my closet differently and am genuinely excited to get dressed in the mornings now instead of it feeling like a chore!
Stay tuned for weeks 5-8!
