As always, time feels like its flying. We just had Memorial Day and I can assure you that when 4th of July rolls around I’ll feel like our long weekend in May had just passed. It’s crazy how quickly time passes when you get older and makes me nervous for the rest of my life haha. This is my second favorite season and I really want to enjoy the fun that Summer brings and not watch it fly before my eyes. Please slow down Summer!
This month we explored the Downtown Silver Spring Farmer’s Market! We had delicious Call Your Mother bagels and wandered the market before heading into the movies to see End Game (which we thought was phenomenal). For my birthday Chris gave me a Gimbel which has been so fun to use and capture video footage. He put together a fun video of our time at the market which you can see on my IG TV channel on Instagram!
Right before End Game started I got a text from my cousin in Charlotte that they were in town! We hustled out of the movie theater when the movie ended and went to have dinner with my family. We had such a great evening catching up and actually lost track of time. Driving home at midnight is worth it when you love the people you visited with!
Pow! Wow! DC just ended and I’m so bummed to see it go. I’m already looking forward to next year and hoping that I can be more involved and maybe volunteer! The final mural walk thru of the festival has been pushed back twice due to inclement weather and I’m excited to go on it this week with my friend Kerry. The festival may be over, but I’m excited for one more opportunity to check out the murals and learn about the artists! Read my recap of the festival HERE.
ZooFari rocked my work world this month as its one of the biggest and most time consuming events to plan with FONZ. I was in charge of the auction which was a bear of a task having never done anything with a silent auction previously. I’m so excited to share that the auction raised over $100,000 to support our conservation efforts!
If you’ve been around here for any period of time you know that my parents are really into Civil War Medicine. My Dad has been a docent at the Civil War Medicine Museum in Frederick, MD previously and goes back for speaking engagements a couple times a year. He spoke during Nurses Week about Florence Nightingale and her impact on medicine during the Civil War and beyond. He did an amazing job as always and we were able to celebrate Mother’s Day afterwards with both of our Mama’s.
The Orioles have not be the best this year, but we want to attend as many games as possible even though we no longer live in the same city. We went to Opening Day and went this month with our friends Pete and Meg. The O’s lost horribly, but we had fun with our people J We already have a game on the calendar for August so it’s looking like one a month for this season and I’m happy about that! Now to get to a Nat’s game…
MDW came and went so quick! We spent the long weekend working on house projects and while I wanted to do something fun and get out of the house, I am glad that I stuck with Chris and crossed some things off of our to-do list!
Before the weekend could come to an end though, we did do a little brewery tour of Silver Spring with our new friends Sara and Justin. We visited an old favorite, Denizen’s and sat on their patio enjoying a peach beer before going to a new (to us) brewery downtown called Silver Branch Brewing Co. The brewery is in a big office building which struck us as weird, but we loved the vibe and the beer! I do wish they’d put a mural on their big magenta wall though!
On the last day of the month we hosted a Friday night BBQ with the Blogger Babes + Boys. Nine of us (including Ollie) enjoyed dogs, burgers, yummy salad and succotash, but the company was even better. It’s always good to catch up with my people and even better when the boys are included.
I’m looking forward to a very full June with a 1st birthday party, Fathers Day, a trip to the beach, Summer Solstice event at work and our housewarming party!
