June started out slow and then shot off like a rocket. All of a sudden we had SO many things filling our calendar and no weekend days to spare. How did this happen?! We kept looking at each other wondering how the month filled so quickly, but the memories we’ve made over the last month have been so special and I’m grateful for a month filled with the people we love!
Let’s recap, shall we?
We explored the trails behind our house and were shocked by how much nature and wildlife is out there! We saw snakes, bugs and even an owl during our hour long hike through the woods!
Mar came to visit! We try to take Marley at least once a month for my parents to give them a break from the constant early mornings and late nights of walks plus he and Cannoli love each other! This was Marley’s first time staying at the new house and had some trouble with the glass door, but we got the hang of it now!
POW! WOW! My friend Kerry and I were able to join the final walking tour of the art festival and it was so fun to share the evening with her looking at some of the murals we stumbled upon during our previous art walk and the new ones that had been just completed.
Chris and I are really enjoying exploring new restaurants in our area and surrounding towns! We joined friends at Pizzeria Paradiso and had the best time sitting outside eating pizza and drinking beer. We will absolutely be back for more!
Olivia turned one! The first of the #minimaids (three of my bridesmaids were pregnant and giving birth leading up to our wedding) has just turned one year old! We attended Olivia’s first birthday party and of course it was stunning. Macy outdid herself as usual and the Lilly Pulitzer/tropical summer soiree theme was beautiful. It was also the second time all of the blogger babes + boys had been together in less than two weeks and I was happy to have more time with my people!
You all know how much I love the DC Pop-Up Bar by now and they had a mini pop-up that I had been dying to check out. Drink Company teamed up with Devilsbackbone and hosted the Lemon Grove which was super cute and summery. The perfect spot to have happy hour with friends and I did just that! One of Chris’ best friends was in town from Sacremento so we hit up DC and had the best time. We visited the pop-up, had dinner around the corner at Right Proper Brewing and then ended the night on U-Street. It’s been a while since Chris and I stayed out til 1:30 in the morning and we enjoyed every second of it! Such a fun night! We miss you already Justin!
Chris’ parents rented a beach cottage in Dewey Beach (DE beaches are my happy place) and invited us to spend a couple days with them. I’m working on a full recap of Dewey and Delaware beaches and will share more there, but we had a great time and didn’t realize how badly we needed some rest and relaxation.
It’s hard when friends leave and I’m not good at goodbyes…. I typically avoid them at all costs. BUT I love the shit out of my friend Alex and wanted to squeeze her one more time before she takes LA by storm. One of her friends planned a surprise going away party and I was happy to make the drive to Baltimore to see her off. She’s going to do amazing things and I’m already planning a visit to see her when we are on the West Coast this Fall!
Kelly Towles partnered with Apple to speak during their Storymaker Festival and he shared how he uses technology to make murals. It was REALLY cool to hear the behind the scenes story on his process and some of the murals he’s made around DC and the world. We were able to use Apple tools to design our own murals and then projected them onto a little house that Kelly made with a 3D printer. It was such fun evening with my Bub!
Cannoli celebrated his 2nd Gotcha Day with us and turned 4 years old! We love this little dog so much and birthdays are a big deal in the DeMillo house so we put on party hats and had Frosty Paws!
One of the things we were pleasantly surprised about is how good the beer is in our new town! There are multiple breweries and our favorite so far is definitely Denizens. The beer, food and environment are spot on. We enjoyed happy hour at the brewery since the Humane Society was hosting a fundraiser so we met up with friends and had a few beers while the dogs played!
We ended the month by wishing my Daddy a Happy Birthday and we hosted our housewarming party for some close family and friends to finally see the house! We had such a good time catching up with everyone and I was HORRIBLE at getting photos! These Camden Yards glasses were a super sweet housewarming gift.
Onto another month and I think its going to be a good one!
