July is historically a really fun month for us. We soak up sunshine, I have big events, we go to Delaware at least once, spend a day/night at the Delaware State Fair and soak up time with the ones we love. This month was no different and it FLEW by.
Chris and I have had a weird cough for most of the month. Not bronchitis, not pneumonia, not a normal chest cold. It’s been really weird and we’ve seen two different doctors who can’t figure out what it is beyond just a cough. Chris felt sick for the first couple days of the month (I’ve never felt bad, just coughing over here) so we spent the 4th and the long weekend after lounging around the house and binge watching shows! We finished Dark (SO GOOD!) and Stranger Things Season 3. We also finished Brooklyn 99 this month and started watching Good Omens.
I thoutht our flowers were done popping up in the yard now that it’s HOTTER THAN THE HINGES OF HELL, but these bright beauties are emerging from the bushes on the side of the house. It’s been so fun watching new plants and flowers bloom over the last three months!
We’ve had the craziest storms this month including a freak flash flood that left DC commuters stuck standing on top of their cars as the water levels rose quickly. I was already at work (thank goodness), but it was still crazy to watch the creek rise so much, so fast!
WE FINALLY GOT A NEW SOFA FOR OUR BASEMENT! We spend so much time in the lowest level of our house (it’s a split level so basement doesn’t feel like the right word since it’s not underground) and we really wanted a comfy sofa that we could lounge on and that felt cozy. We were using a combination of two older sofas and a leather recliner I’ve had since I was 16, but have now upgraded to a new sofa and it’s been soooo nice. Cannoli even likes it because we keep finding him downstairs sleeping on the sofa when we get home.
I took two weekend trips home to Laurel Delaware this month and it was so nice to spend quality time with family. This is truly my happy place and I felt so recharged after spending back to back weekends there.
Brew at the Zoo was this month! This was the last event that I hadn’t yet worked and my one year anniversary at FONZ is this week! The event took place on one of the hottest days this month and I’d be lying if I said I handled the heat well, it was rough for everyone. However, the event was a huge success and the dinosaur theme was a personal favorite of mine. After spending months planning this event, it was so fun to see it all come together. I’m really proud of the events I’ve planned and produced over the last year, but this one in particular!
The Royal Wedding of Baltimore was much anticipated and lived up to the hype! Kate and Tony were the winners of a free wedding from a group of amazing vendors and the evening was absolutely beautiful! Congrats you two!
One of the Blogger Babes turned 30 this month! Laura’s sweet husband surprised her with a spa day that included the four of us! We were able to spend time with our girl and love on her hard. After our massages, manicures and pedicures we got ready and rode in a limo back to Laura’s parents’ house where a surprise party complete with all of her favorite people was waiting for her! It was such a great day and I hope she knows how loved she is!
On my second visit home I went to the Delaware State Fair with my parents to see Dan & Shay! They had already seen a Sugarland and Brothers Osborne concert a few days prior and were happy to add D+S to the list as well! It was a beautiful night after a few storms rolled through cooling everything off and I’m so thankful to have this time and make memories like these with my parents.
We traveled to Baltimore quite a bit this month and spent time with some of our favorite people. I couldn’t let a summer go by without getting a snowball and after seeing so many fun snaps of the new stand in Hampden, we made the stop before heading to Union’s birthday bash. I was SO disappointed because my Peanut Butter & Jelly snowball was banana flavored ice and I hate fake banana flavor…still not sure how that is a thing, but I want to give them another go so tell me what flavor you recommend if you’ve tried them out this summer!
Sadly two of our favorite people are leaving DC and moving back to Bmore full time. It was so nice being in the same city for a few months, but we fell in love with them in Baltimore and will be back to hang out soon! (photo taken while helping them move, thanks for the cardio friends!)
I’m loving and embracing the freckles this season and have been wearing less face makeup to let them breathe and shine! This was on an official date night with my boo trying out a new restaurant in Tacoma Park.
July was really good to us and flew by SO FAST. We have exciting things planned for August and I can’t believe that it’s here. We’ve been in our house for four months and are only four months from Christmas and both feel so far away, but I know they’re just around the corner. I’m trying to stay present in the moment and thankful for the memories we are making with each other and the ones we love.
